Why sign in?
Reading the blog never requires an account — signing in just unlocks a few extra things.
All of the public posts here are free to read without signing in. You only need an account when you want to take part rather than just read:
- Leave comments. Signing in lets you join the conversation on a post, and ties your comments to a name so threads make sense. You can also be notified by email when someone replies.
- Request access to friends-only posts. Some posts are shared only with people I know. Once you're signed in you can ask to join my friend list; if I add you, those posts show up alongside the public ones.
How signing in works
There's no password to create. You can sign in with Google, GitHub, or LinkedIn, or have a one-time "magic link" emailed to you. The site stores only your display name, email address, and an identifier from your sign-in provider — see the privacy policy for the details.
