New in DNSimple: Domain State Change Webhook Event
June 4, 2026
Today we released a new webhook event at DNSimple to report state changes for domains. This event is fired whenever a domain transitions between states like registered or expired. It’s useful if you are building automation around domain management and you need to keep local sync in state and act on changes.
Webhooks are one of the more important and under utilized features of DNSimple that differentiate it from other domain registrars and DNS providers. It goes hand-in-hand with our REST API to make it easy to build on top of DNSimple’s primitives for DNS and domain management. While you may not need it, it sure does come in handy when you want to react to events that happen on your domains at DNSimple.
Adding this new event improves the coverage of events you can listen for. It’s a small change but one that will be valuable to anyone using DNSimple webhooks already. Check out the blog post on the DNSimple blog for more details.
